Wood Wool for the Garden 10kg 500l | Natural Mulch

Garden wood wool is a natural mulching material made from dry pine. The natural resin content keeps the fibres durable, so they hold their structure outdoors through the whole season. In the pack the material is compressed, but once opened it fluffs up into a light, airy layer that sits easily under plants.

Spread around plants it forms a protective layer that keeps soil moisture even. Rainwater passes straight through, while the soil below dries far more slowly. It works particularly well for strawberries, where a 4 to 6 cm layer keeps the berries off the soil so they stay clean and protected from rot, without chemicals.

It also limits weed growth by blocking light at the soil surface, and acts as a natural barrier against slugs, whose movement is slowed by the dry, coarse texture. After the season the material can be reused for other crops such as cucumbers, courgettes or pumpkins, or dried and stored for the next cycle.

Suitable for greenhouses, open beds and planters, and fully compostable once it has done its work.

This 10 kg pack holds about 500 l of loose wood wool and covers roughly 20 m² at a 4 to 6 cm layer, enough for a greenhouse or several beds.
